“The map is not the territory” – Alfred Korzybski
This past September, ARTeacher Fellowship alumnae Katherine Collier and Jessie Lorimer joined our current Fellows at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art to co-facilitate a workshop on remixing maps to express ideas and information in new ways. The participating Fellows examined map structures and conventions–from star maps to topographic maps to subway maps–and explored how they can be remixed to represent more than just physical space and geography.
Collier and Lorimer are also chapter authors in the recently published book: *A Primer on Arts Integration*. Both of their chapters focused on their own implementation of mapmaking as an arts-integrated practice in their unique classroom contexts. We are grateful to have them share their first-hand wisdom and expertise with this year’s Fellows. Thank you!
