“We are called to be architects of the future, not its victims.” -Buckminster Fuller

Call it AIx2. In February, Curtis Maughan of the University of Arkansas facilitated a professional development workshop with the ARTeacher Fellowship on the intersection of artificial intelligence and arts integration. Maughan, who is Director of the World Languages and Digital Humanities Studio at UofA, led Fellows in an exploration of the fast-changing AI landscape with tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Dall-E, and Microsoft Copilot.

In addition, the group looked critically at broader questions raised by AI in a classroom/arts integration context, exploring opportunities, concerns, and best practices for both educators and students.

The PD workshop was hosted at the University of Arkansas School of Art’s Windgate Studio + Design Center. Fellows were able to tour the facility with SoA’s Director of Recruitment and Outreach Donna Smith Jones highlighting some of the building’s many features and resources.
